The Fashion Museum Bath has revealed its Dress of the Year 2025, with selections including a Sarah Burton design for Givenchy and a menswear ensemble from Giorgio Armani's final collection. A fashion expert was invited in February 2026 to make the choices for the museum's permanent collection.
The Sarah Burton piece is described as a daffodil-coloured sporty mesh dress with visible retro underpinnings, from her first collection for Givenchy. The menswear choice honours Giorgio Armani, who died in September 2025, and features soft shoulders, fluid fabrics, and effortless layering from his last designed collection.
The Dress of the Year initiative, which began in 1963, aims to keep the museum's collection current by adding outfits that capture the fashion of the preceding year. The Bath museum closed its doors in 2022 for a revamp, with a new museum expected to open in 2030.
