Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes and Manchester City forward Khadija Shaw have both secured the Professional Footballers' Associations men's and women's player of the year awards for the 2025-26 season. Both players had previously been recognised as the Football Writers' Association men's and women's footballers of the year.
Fernandes, who registered 21 assists in 35 league outings, surpassed the previous Premier League record for assists in a single campaign. This marks his first PFA award, making him the first United player to win since Wayne Rooney in 2010. He also contributed nine goals in the league, helping United finish third and qualify for the Champions League.
Khadija Shaw's award is her second in three seasons. She claimed her third consecutive Women's Super League (WSL) golden boot with 21 goals in 22 appearances as Manchester City won the title. Shaw also scored five goals, including the opener in the final, as City secured the FA Cup.
In the young player categories, Manchester City defender Nico O'Reilly was named men's young player of the year, contributing eight goal involvements and nine clean sheets in 34 league appearances. Arsenal's Olivia Smith retained her crown as the women's young player of the year, scoring 10 goals in all competitions after joining from Liverpool.
