A Ferrari valued at about £3.7m was among 90 vehicles seized by the Metropolitan Police during a weekend operation against antisocial driving in central London. The vehicles, with a total worth of more than £8m, were taken in Kensington, Chelsea, and Hyde Park between Friday and Sunday.
Officers targeted uninsured, antisocial, and dangerous driving. The Ferrari Monza SP2, which had been in the UK for a day, was stopped after its driver, who held only a provisional licence, was found to have no insurance.
Fifteen vehicles were seized immediately under powers for antisocial use. Special Ch Insp Geoff Tatman, who led the operation, stated that seizing vehicles aims to keep roads safe and deter dangerous driving.
Four arrests were made during the operation. One man was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and money laundering, while another was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply. Further arrests were made for suspected harassment, alarm, or distress behaviour, and an immigration offence.
The Metropolitan Police stated that the number and value of vehicles seized represent the highest in the five years the operation has been running.
