A migrant hotel resident, Muhammad Sheikhi, 23, has been sentenced to four years in jail for sexually assaulting two women in Falkirk. The incidents occurred in the early hours of a Sunday morning last November, within little over an hour.
Sheikhi targeted his victims after they had left different nightclubs. He was subsequently arrested in his room at the Cladhan Hotel.
Sheriff Keith O'Mahony described the assaults as "deliberate and predatory," imposing a sentence at the upper end of his powers. Sheikhi has also been placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely and is prohibited from contacting or approaching the victims for 10 years.
During the trial, Sheikhi, who arrived in the UK by boat, denied the charges, stating he had been "roaming around" as he lacked social connections at his hotel. However, a jury at Stirling Sheriff Court found him guilty of both charges in May, following a four-day trial.
