Flox Intelligence is developing AI technology to deter wildlife from transport infrastructure. The company's edge devices are designed to identify animals and use species-specific sounds to move them away from areas such as train tracks, airports, and roads.
The system operates by using motion sensors to detect movement, triggering a camera that identifies nearby animals. A species-appropriate sound is then emitted to scare the animals away. Flox Intelligence states that the system learns and varies its responses to prevent animals from becoming habituated to repeated signals.
Approximately 150 Flox devices are currently in use across North America, Europe, and Australia. These are deployed at locations including airfields, airport perimeters, road and rail corridors, national parks, and critical infrastructure sites. Train manufacturer Alstom is a partner, deploying Flox software on its trains.
The company sells its edge units upfront and then charges an annual software and AI subscription after the first year. Flox Intelligence expects to achieve revenues of approximately $1.5 million by the end of 2026.
