Everton's £40m deal to sign Folarin Balogun from Monaco has collapsed, with the United States striker reportedly walking away from the move at the 11th hour after the transfer window closed. The Premier League side had reached an agreement for the 25-year-old, but a medical issue prompted Everton to seek renegotiation.
However, Balogun then reportedly decided he no longer wished to join Everton. This development leaves manager David Moyes with only one senior striker, Thierno Barry, following the earlier deadline day sale of Beto to Fiorentina.
Everton also explored a late loan move for Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee, but their offer was rejected. In other transfer activity, Everton have re-signed Jack Grealish on loan from Manchester City and secured Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Lyon for approximately £4.2m, with the former Arsenal player signing a three-year contract.
