A former chemistry teacher, Sally-Anne Bowen, has been found guilty of indecently assaulting two teenage pupils at an all-boys school in north London during the late 1980s.
Bowen, now 65, taught at Christ’s College in Finchley. A jury at Harrow Crown Court returned majority verdicts, finding her guilty of seven counts of indecent assault after deliberations lasting over six hours. The teenage boys were aged around 14 to 15 at the time of the assaults, while Bowen was in her mid-20s.
One complainant stated he had a sexual relationship with Bowen over several months, visiting her home and considering her his girlfriend. He told the court he kept the relationship secret due to feeling compelled to protect her, and that the experience was "the destruction of my education." The second complainant reported kissing Bowen once in a cafe.
During the trial, Bowen, of Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, claimed the allegations were "total fabrication." She was granted bail until her sentence hearing.
