Two beach trucks have been recovered after they became trapped in sand and sea at Brean beach, Somerset, while a warden was rescuing a child from mud.
One vehicle became stuck on Wednesday, and a second truck deployed to assist also became lodged in thick mud. Somerset Council, which oversees the beach warden service, confirmed that the child was taken to safety and no injuries occurred.
A spokesperson for Somerset Council stated that the beach safety warden was rescuing a child trapped in mud with an incoming tide. They added that the child was brought to safety, but both the warden's vehicle and a second assisting vehicle became stuck and were caught by the tide.
Both vehicles were recovered on Thursday using a World War Two truck.
