A former detective constable has admitted to charges of voyeurism, perverting the course of justice, and corrupt or improper exercise of police powers and privileges.
Lee Harshey-Jones, 45, pleaded guilty to one charge of voyeurism for taking pictures beneath a child's clothing without consent, an act also known as "upskirting". He also admitted to perverting the course of justice by applying a factory reset to his mobile phone on 11 June 2026, in Colwyn Bay, Conwy county, to conceal evidence.
Mr Harshey-Jones further pleaded guilty to looking up his own incident on the police computer log. He was a lead investigator in the murder case of two-year-old Ethan Ives-Griffiths and had given evidence in other high-profile murder trials in north Wales.
Following a hearing at Chester Crown Court, Mr Harshey-Jones was granted conditional bail and will be sentenced on 19 November. He was suspended by North Wales Police after his arrest and has since resigned from the force. Recorder Mark Ford KC told him he must sign the sex offenders register.
