Beau Lamarre-Condon, a 31-year-old former police officer, has pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder and one charge of aggravated break and enter as his trial commenced in Sydney's supreme court on Monday.
He is accused of fatally shooting Jesse Baird, 26, and Baird’s partner Luke Davies, 29, with his police service weapon at Baird’s Paddington home in February 2024. The court heard that Lamarre-Condon offered to plead guilty to manslaughter, but this was rejected by the prosecution.
Crown prosecutor Brett Hatfield told the jury panel that Lamarre-Condon allegedly developed an "infatuation and obsession" with Jesse Baird, which escalated after Baird ended contact in November 2023. The prosecution alleged Lamarre-Condon planned the murder in early 2024, investigating ways to conceal gunfire, hiring a vehicle, and buying a surfboard bag to dispose of a body.
On 19 February 2024, Lamarre-Condon allegedly entered Baird's house disguised as an Uber Eats rider, using a key he had obtained. He then reportedly shot Jesse twice in the kitchen and Luke Davies in the bedroom. Their bodies were discovered almost 200km away in Bungonia eight days later.
