Former PGA Tour golfer Matt McQuillan has died suddenly at the age of 45. The Canadian passed away on 5 August, surrounded by his family, according to an obituary in the Kingston Whig-Standard newspaper.
McQuillan turned professional in 2003 after playing at collegiate level. He competed in 32 PGA Tour events, making the cut nine times. His best performance on the PGA Tour was a joint-third place finish at the John Deere Classic in 2011.
In recent years, McQuillan remained involved in golf as a teaching professional in his hometown, helping to develop new golfers. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, to be announced by his family.
