Robin Brown, a former Liberal Democrat councillor for Richmond upon Thames, has died at the age of 62 after a battle with brain cancer. He dedicated almost a decade to public service on the council, having been elected in 2018.
During his time as a councillor, Brown served as the lead member for finance, utilising his business background through a period that included the Covid-19 pandemic. The Liberal Democrat administration in Richmond upon Thames secured a clean sweep of council seats earlier this year.
Brown's career also included roles at Unilever and United Biscuits, where he rose to become finance director before retiring from full-time work in 2012. He was also a governor of Kingston Grammar School, where he helped establish a partner school in China. Additionally, he led the general election campaigns for local Twickenham MP Munira Wilson in both 2019 and 2024.
He relinquished his council finance role in May last year. Brown is survived by his wife, Jane, their children, Ellie and Alex, his parents, John and Veronica, and his sister, Lucy.
