Richard Bronson, an entrepreneur with a past prison sentence, has launched a new startup named Commissary Club. The platform aims to support individuals re-entering society after prison by using artificial intelligence to help them secure employment and housing.
Bronson, who was a partner at the brokerage firm Stratton Oakmont in the 1980s, served time in federal prison for breaking securities laws. He stated that his own difficulties finding employment after his release informed the creation of Commissary Club.
The startup also includes a social media component, which Bronson described as being similar to Facebook, to help users find community. Commissary Club, co-founded by Bronson and Roman Kissin, offers the first 10 job applications for free, with subsequent bundles of 10 applications costing $149.
