Four-year-old boy dies after car and off-road bike crash in Newark

A four-year-old boy has died following a collision between a car and an off-road bike in Newark. Two men have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

A four-year-old boy has died after a car and an off-road bike collided in Newark. Emergency services were called to Churchill Drive at approximately 18:00 BST on Sunday following reports of the collision.

The boy, who was a passenger on the off-road bike, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 24-year-old man riding the bike sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital. He has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Nottinghamshire Police stated that the driver of the car remained at the scene and provided an account to officers. An investigation found that the bike had been seen travelling in convoy with a second bike, whose rider left the scene before police arrived. A 32-year-old man was arrested on Monday on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information or footage to come forward.
