Rescuers are continuing their search for 18 passengers after a ferry capsized off the coast of northern Cyprus on Sunday. Eight people have been confirmed to have died in the incident.
The vessel, which was carrying 259 passengers and eight crew members, began taking on water shortly after departing Kyrenia. Nineteen people are currently receiving hospital treatment in northern Cyprus.
The ship's captain, seven crew members, and another individual were arrested on Monday. Warrants have also been issued for a further seven people.
The Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Ünal Üstel, has announced a three-day period of national mourning. Officials state the boat has completely sunk and is at a depth of 514m (1,686ft).
Authorities are attempting to recover the vessel's black box recorder to determine the cause of the incident. The privately owned ferry, a Filo Jet vessel, was en route to Tasucu in Turkey.
