Fredrik Linifors, representing Notting Hill Fish Shop, has been crowned England's fastest oyster shucker. The Speed Shucking Oyster Open finals, held in Mayfair, saw competitors race against the clock to open oysters quickly and precisely.
Actor Stanley Tucci judged the taste and quality of the shucked oysters at the event, hosted by Bentley's restaurant. Richard Corrigan, chef and owner of Bentley's, highlighted the skill and potential danger involved, noting that a good shucker needs charm, wit, and strong arms.
Linifors secured his victory by effortlessly opening thirty native oysters in the final round, following an initial round where 16 competitors opened twelve oysters. His win means he will advance to represent England at the World Oyster Opening Championship, scheduled for next weekend in Galway, Ireland.
