France has opened disciplinary proceedings against its top diplomat in the Central African Republic (CAR), Ambassador Bruno Foucher, following accusations of misconduct. The allegations claim Mr Foucher brought dozens of women into his official residence and had sex with some of them.
These allegations, reportedly occurring between January 2024 and March this year, led to investigations by France's foreign ministry into a potential security breach. A French diplomat informed the BBC that administrative procedures against the ambassador are currently "ongoing".
French media reports allege that Mr Foucher invited approximately 30 women to his residence in the capital, Bangui. Some of these women are said to have stayed overnight, raising security concerns.
