Fourth seed Coco Gauff saved two match points and recovered from a set down to beat Mirra Andreeva in the US Open quarter-finals. Gauff secured a 2-6 7-6 (9-7) 6-2 victory, setting up a semi-final clash with Elena Rybakina.
Gauff's win marks her first US Open semi-final since winning the title in 2023 and her second consecutive Grand Slam semi-final. She stated her performance was inspired by Frances Tiafoe's comeback victory on Tuesday.
Second seed Elena Rybakina advanced by defeating Zheng Qinwen 3-6 6-1 6-4. Rybakina, 27, was guaranteed to secure the world number one ranking for the first time in her career by reaching the semi-finals.
The progression of Gauff and Rybakina means the top four seeds have reached the women's singles semi-finals at a major for the first time since Wimbledon in 2009. Top seed Sabalenka and third seed Jessica Pegula also progressed on Tuesday.
