Great Britain's women's team sprint squad powered to a silver medal on Wednesday at the World Track Cycling Championships in Shanghai. Emma Finucane, Sophie Capewell, and Rhianna Parris-Smith finished fastest in qualifying before beating France, ultimately losing to hosts China in the gold-medal race.

In contrast, the men's team sprint, comprising Joe Truman, Ed Lowe, and Harry Ledingham-Horn, exited in the first round. They finished fifth in qualifying and were subsequently beaten by fourth-placed Australia in the opening head-to-head races.

The men's team faced a challenging build-up following Matt Richardson's withdrawal from the competition on Monday due to allegations of misconduct. Truman acknowledged the situation, stating the team had started "on the back foot" but were focused on their performance.
