Gloucester produced a superb display to stun Exeter Chiefs 45-24 at Sandy Park on the first weekend of the new Prem season. The Cherry and Whites, who only won once on the road last term, matched that immediately with this impressive showing.
New captain and Wales skipper Dewi Lake led the charge with two of Gloucester's seven tries. Winger Ben Loader also contributed two tries, while Seb Atkinson, Will Joseph, and Junior Denny completed their try haul.
Exeter, who were runners-up last season after losing to Northampton Saints in the final, were well beaten despite tries from Josh Iosefa-Scott, Ethan Roots, Stephen Varney, and Louie Gulley, which secured them a bonus point.
Gloucester's victory marks their first win in Devon since 2015 and suggests increased belief for the new campaign following the acquisition of Wales pair Lake and Jac Morgan.
