A gorilla statue, known as Caesar, has been reunited with its owner, Adele Teale, in Wakefield. The statue had been at the centre of a planning dispute with Wakefield Council, which had ordered its removal from a plinth on Teale's house due to a lack of planning permission.
Facing a potential fine of up to £20,000, Teale moved Caesar to a travel agent in Mayfair, London, in June 2026. The 4ft (1.2m) statue has now been returned to Teale's garden in the Stanley area of Wakefield, where it is standing as an ornament.
Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds, Teale said she believed there was no longer an issue with planning rules as the gorilla is now in her garden, bolted to a table. She previously had Caesar outside her home in south Leeds for 15 years without incident before moving to Wakefield in 2020.
