Artists featured on the soundtrack for the 'Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look' trailer have experienced a substantial surge in streaming figures. The 26-minute special, which premiered on Netflix on August 27 before wider release, offered an in-depth preview of Vice City, dual protagonists Lucia and Jason, and new gameplay mechanics.
The showcase accumulated over 31.1 million views on Netflix within its initial days and was the top-watched show in 87 out of 93 countries serviced by the streamer. An additional 20 million people have viewed it on YouTube.
A new report indicates that all more than a dozen songs featured in 'An Extended Look' received a significant boost in streaming, especially among Gen-Z listeners. Captain & Tennille's 'But I Think It's A Dream' saw a 130,730 per cent increase in global streams in the three days following the showcase's release compared to the preceding week. Depeche Mode's 'People Are People' experienced a 190 per cent global streaming increase and a 700 per cent rise in playlist additions.
Prefab Sprout's 'Cars And Girls' led to a 530 per cent increase in Gen Z discoveries, while Cliff Richard's music saw a 325 per cent increase with Gen Z music fans. Other notable increases include 'Devil Woman' by Cliff Richard (1,290 per cent), 'Se Me Nota (Agárrame)' by Chimbala, Omega (10,190 per cent), and 'Off The Grid' by !!!, Mean Pace (5,720 per cent).
Following the trailer's release, Grand Theft Auto 6 developers have stated the game will not include microtransactions or AI-generated assets. Rockstar Games has also confirmed a "next evolution" of GTA Online, featuring an official collaboration with roleplay server nopixel.
