Kent Jones' new film, 'Late Fame', will be released in UK cinemas on September 4. The drama stars Willem Dafoe as Ed Saxberger, a fictional New York poet whose talent is rediscovered decades after he stopped writing.
Dafoe's character, Saxberger, worked at the post office and had not written poetry for decades since his 1979 collection 'Way Past Go'. He is approached by Edmund Donovan's character, Meyers, who leads a group of writers who revere Saxberger's work.
The film, which also features Greta Lee as performance artist Gloria, is described as an elegy for a pre-gentrification New York City. Jones, a film critic turned director, co-wrote the screenplay with Samy Burch, transplanting the story from Arthur Schnitzler's 1894 novella to a familiar New York setting.
