Great Britain has surged to the top of the European Athletics Championships 2026 medal table following a dynamic first two days of competition. The nation's sprinters have been particularly impressive, with Romell Glave claiming gold and Jeremiah Azu securing silver in the men’s 100m.

This success builds on Amy Hunt's stellar performance on Monday night, where she clinched GB’s first gold of the championships. The world 200m silver medallist powered through the women's 100m final in 11 seconds flat, overcoming a slow start to overtake Poland’s Ewa Swoboda and Belgium’s Delphine Nkansa.

Great Britain's current tally stands at two golds and two silvers. Italy and the Netherlands are close contenders, each with four medals. Norway also made a strong start, securing two golds on the opening night, including Jakob Ingebrigtsen's remarkable 5,000m victory after nearly a year out due to an Achilles injury and surgery.
