Grumpy, a Brooklyn-based band, is preparing for the release of their debut record, 'Unfindable Ring', on 23 October. The group, which began as a solo project for frontman Heaven Schmitt, has evolved into a six-piece ensemble with predominantly trans members.
Schmitt, who previously toured as a backing vocalist with country-pop star Zach Bryan, now leads a band known for its collaborative approach to recording, producing, mixing, and creating artwork and music videos. Their sound blends alt-country and indie-folk, incorporating elements like Auto-Tuned vocals, slowcore guitars, and grunge choruses.
The album is described as a celebration of trans joy and queer love. One track, 'OBL (One Beautiful Life)', reportedly juxtaposes jubilant romance with experiences of intimidation, suggesting the heightened significance of joy in the face of adversity.
