Former Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is scheduled to return to the Etihad Stadium next week to watch the club's Champions League fixture against Paris Saint-Germain. This visit comes as Manchester City continues to deal with the fallout from being found guilty of 114 charges by the Premier League.
Guardiola, who departed the club in the summer, had consistently maintained the innocence of his former club regarding the financial rule breaches. He recently posted a message on Instagram, stating his unwavering support for the club, its owners, and executives.
An independent commission concluded that City used "sham" contracts to inflate revenue by over £900 million across a nine-year period. The club is appealing the verdict, which could lead to potential penalties such as expulsion from the Premier League or a points deduction.
Guardiola, now a global ambassador for the City Football Group, was not personally accused in the charges. This will mark his first return to the Etihad since his departure in May, following a decade-long tenure where he secured 20 trophies, including six Premier League titles.
