Golfer Jon Rahm is to quit LIV Golf, deeming the proposed terms for the breakaway series' relaunch as "unacceptable." This decision comes as LIV is undergoing Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in the United States.
Rahm's attorney, John Beck, stated at a bankruptcy hearing that "Mr Rahm has independently reviewed the proposed terms of LIV 2.0…and has determined that those terms are unacceptable to him, and he will not be participating going forward in LIV 2.0." Rahm is reportedly owed up to $150m for the remainder of his contract, signed almost three years ago.
The Athletic also reported that Beck informed the court that Rahm and LIV are working towards finalising a separation agreement by October 15. Rahm recently withdrew from the Open de Espana to be with his wife, Kelley, who is expecting their fourth child.
In May, the 31-year-old resolved a dispute with the DP World Tour, paying approximately £2.21m in fines. This action provided him with conditional releases for 2026 and made him eligible for the Ryder Cup. He previously declined the PGA Tour's offer of reinstatement, which would have required a mandatory one-year suspension before returning to the American circuit.
