Harry Brook is embracing leadership and responsibility as he approaches the one-year anniversary of an altercation, stating he wants to be "the man England fans and the team rely on". Brook previously admitted he could have been sacked as white-ball captain after being punched by a nightclub bouncer last Halloween.
Since then, Brook has stabilised England's 50-over side, with the team winning their last three series after losing seven of eight. The T20 team currently holds the top spot in world rankings. Brook's ODI average as skipper stands at 51.3, a significant increase from his 25.2 average when not captain.
Brook's immediate focus is on England's tri-series against hosts Pakistan and Sri Lanka. England will begin their campaign against Pakistan on Tuesday in Rawalpindi. Each team will play each other twice, with the top two finishers competing in the final on Halloween.
Rehan Ahmed was not selected for the squad, with Mason Crane chosen instead. Injured Jos Buttler and rested Jofra Archer are also absent from England's 16-strong contingent.
