England white-ball captain Harry Brook has reflected on his personal and leadership development, stating he has "learned a lot" following an off-field incident almost a year ago. The 27-year-old was involved in an altercation with a nightclub bouncer on the eve of a match in Wellington, which reportedly raised doubts about his future as skipper.
Brook, who also serves as Test vice-captain, expressed his desire to be the player England fans can rely on. He told Press Association that responsibilities and leadership extend beyond the field, with actions speaking louder than words. Despite not scoring a Test hundred since last winter's Ashes, Brook has been in excellent white-ball form, leading England's 50-over and T20 sides to a resurgence.
His side is set to return to action in a 50-over tri-series on Tuesday, playing Pakistan in Rawalpindi. This series also includes Sri Lanka, with Pakistan having beaten Sri Lanka in the opener on Sunday. England, who have won three ODI series consecutively this year, are building towards next year's World Cup. Wicketkeeper Jos Buttler is injured for this series, while fast bowler Jofra Archer has been rested.
