Heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall has firmly rejected reports circulating on social media that he is planning to leave the UFC. The Briton, who is currently recovering from a serious eye injury, posted on X to dismiss the claims.
Aspinall has not competed since October, when his title defence against Ciryl Gane ended in a no-contest due to repeated eye pokes. He was later diagnosed with a rare eye condition and experienced persistent double vision before undergoing surgery.
In June, Aspinall indicated he had returned to full training for a rematch with France's Gane, suggesting a potential September fight. Gane subsequently won the interim heavyweight title against Alex Pereira and called for a unification bout with Aspinall.
Aspinall has a UFC record of eight wins, one loss, and one no-contest across 10 fights, with his sole defeat resulting from a serious knee injury against Curtis Blaydes.
