Following a dominant year that saw her claim three major gold medals, including the European 1500m crown, World Indoor Championships, and Commonwealth Games, Georgia Hunter Bell is preparing for a significant return to the 800m event. She is scheduled to compete in the Zurich Diamond League Women’s 800m tonight.
Hunter Bell will face Audrey Werro and Femke Broeders-Bol in Zurich, with Keely Hodgkinson and world champion Lilian Odira having withdrawn. She expressed her excitement for the race, recalling a close finish with Werro in Zurich last year.
Looking ahead, Hunter Bell is considering her participation in the Diamond League Final and the World Ultimate Championships, where she eyes the 800m event due to its two-round format and absence of pacemakers. Her long-term ambition includes attempting a medal double at the Beijing World Championships next year, aiming for both the 800m and 1500m, a feat last achieved by Kelly Holmes at the Athens Games in 2004.
