HM Treasury has published a technical annex to the G7 Cyber Expert Group (CEG) Reconnection Framework Best Practice (2025). The document identifies effective practices and approaches that jurisdictions and their institutions may use to implement reconnection frameworks following a cyber incident.
The annex explores preliminary considerations and technical processes to support compromised organisations in their reconnection efforts. Reconnection is defined as the process of restoring technical access and integration to an organisation that has been technically quarantined after a material cyber incident, including a phased resumption of business operations.
The document also introduces the concept of disconnection. It does not set guidance or regulatory expectations.
