Great Britain has recorded more new solar power installations in the first half of this year than in any six-month period since 2011. The majority of these new panels have been installed on household rooftops, rather than large-scale solar farms.
Government data also indicates a rise in households adopting other low-carbon technologies. Applications to the boiler upgrade scheme, which provides grants for replacing gas boilers with greener alternatives, reached 4,512 last month. This represents a 21% increase compared to June of last year, with demand for heat pumps anticipated to climb further in the coming months.
