Hovland leads Tour Championship by one stroke ahead of final round

Norway's Viktor Hovland will begin the final round of the PGA Tour's Tour Championship in Atlanta on Sunday with a one-stroke lead. Hovland, who won the FedEx Cup in 2023, is currently 15 under par after a third-round 65.

American Ryan Gerard is one shot behind Hovland at 14 under par. World number one Scottie Scheffler, the 2024 champion, is three shots adrift on 12 under after a bogey-free round of 66. Australia's Adam Scott and Sweden's Ludvig Aberg are also on 12 under.

Rory McIlroy, a three-time FedEx Cup winner, is five shots off the lead at 10 under par. The 37-year-old recorded a 63, featuring nine birdies, including three consecutive birdies on holes 15, 16, and 17.

England's Justin Rose and Matt Fitzpatrick are both at eight under par, while defending champion Tommy Fleetwood and Alex Fitzpatrick are a shot further back. Scotland's Robert MacIntyre improved to four under par after a round of 63.

Why this matters: The season-ending Tour Championship will also determine the FedEx Cup champion.
