Ireland's Leona Maguire delivered a superb nine-under-par 63 on day three of the Women's Irish Open at the K Club, much to the delight of the home crowd. Her impressive, bogey-free round saw her birdie nine of the first 15 holes, moving her to 11 under par and into a tie for sixth position.
Maguire's strong performance, which included back-to-back birdies on holes two to four and seven to eight, follows two opening rounds of 71. Her birdie putt on the 18th for a 62 just lipped out.
Despite heavy rain causing a suspension of play, South African Casandra Alexander maintained her lead, firing a 69 to sit at 18 under par. She holds a three-shot advantage over Czech player Sara Kouskova, who shot a 67 to reach 15 under. Kajsa Arwefjaell also matched Maguire's round of 63, moving her to third place on 13 under.
