Amy Hunt has secured her third gold medal at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, as Great Britain's 4x100m relay stars delivered a spectacular performance. The 24-year-old's latest triumph follows her victories in the 100m and 200m, setting her up for a potential historic quadruple.
Hunt will now attempt to become the first athlete to win four medals at a single edition in the event's 92-year history when she competes in the mixed 4x100m relay on Sunday.
Team-mate Dina Asher-Smith also made history, earning her seventh gold medal at the championships, a decade after her first. This achievement matches the record tally held by Norway’s Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Croatian discus thrower Sandra Elkasevic. Asher-Smith also equalled Polish sprinter Irena Szewinska's overall record of 10 medals at the championships.
The GB women's quartet, featuring Imani-Lara Lansiquot and Success Eduan, crossed the line in 42.05 seconds to claim their gold. Just 15 minutes earlier, Romell Glave anchored the men's 4x100m team, which included Jeremiah Azu, Louie Hinchliffe, and Zharnel Hughes, to gold in 38.45 seconds. These victories bring Britain's medal tally to 12, including six golds, as they pursue table-topping Italy.
