The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has cleared officers and soldiers of criminal wrongdoing more than two years after a 2024 drone strike killed seven aid workers, including Australian Zomi Frankcom. The IDF's military advocate general described the incident as involving "serious failures in the process" but concluded that the commanders' decisions did not raise reasonable suspicion of criminal misconduct.

Zomi Frankcom, 43, was killed when an aid convoy, operated by World Central Kitchen (WCK) and bringing food to Gaza, was hit by three drone strikes over four minutes. The seven aid workers killed were from Australia, the UK, Poland, Palestine, and America.

The IDF stated that officers "mistakenly believed that the vehicles contained Hamas military operatives and therefore struck the vehicles." They also cited a lack of notification about an armed guard with the convoy and the convoy's alleged deviation from its agreed route.

Australia's foreign minister, Penny Wong, responded to the decision by stating that "Israel’s decision falls far short of the accountability we expect." She added that the Australian government would continue to press Israel for justice for Frankcom and her colleagues.
