Invest Northern Ireland (Invest NI) has proposed a £67 million subsidy to Ryanair UK Limited to support the creation of a large-scale Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility for aircraft engines in Northern Ireland. The proposed subsidy, comprising capital and employment-related grants, aims to generate semi-skilled, skilled, and professional jobs and increase capital investment in the region.
The Subsidy Advice Unit (SAU) has accepted a request from Invest NI for a report concerning this proposed subsidy, which is classified as a Subsidy of Particular Interest. The SAU will evaluate Invest NI’s assessment of whether the subsidy complies with subsidy control requirements.
The SAU is expected to complete its report within 30 working days. The subsidy will be paid in arrears, contingent on evidence of capital expenditure and job creation.
