The boxing match between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury is facing delays in its official announcement due to a contractual dispute over the fight's location. Promoter Eddie Hearn states that existing contracts mandate the fight to take place in the UK, despite discussions now pointing towards New York as the likely venue.
Hearn is seeking an addendum to the contract to agree to a location change, which includes requests for additional compensation and other assurances for Joshua's camp. He told The Independent this month that he would not have signed the original contract if the fight was in America, adding, "we don't want the money, we'd rather it was in the UK."
The provisional date of Friday, 20 November at Madison Square Garden, New York, remains unconfirmed. Hearn also mentioned that Joshua would receive less money if the fight were staged in the United States due to tax issues.
Hearn has sent new requests to Saudi Arabia's event management company, Sela, stating, "We're not asking for anything new, we're just asking for our contractual obligations to be honoured." He added that the changes concern ticket requests, security, and transportation assurances.
