  • Isidor's goal came days after he signed a new contract with Sunderland until 2030.

Sunderland secured their inaugural Premier League win of the season today, overcoming Fulham 1-0 at the Stadium of Light. The decisive goal came from Wilson Isidor, who found the net with 15 minutes left in the match.

Isidor, 26, had only recently committed his future to Sunderland, signing a new contract that extends until 2030. He was brought on as a substitute midway through the second half and, after hitting the post earlier, converted a similar chance to break the deadlock.

This victory marks Sunderland's first against Fulham in six encounters, a run stretching back to December 2017. The Black Cats had started their campaign with a defeat at Ipswich last weekend.

The match was largely a drab affair, though Sunderland showed more energy. Fulham, who lost 3-2 to Chelsea in their season opener, saw Josh King miss a couple of first-half opportunities. Sunderland's defence, with Nordi Mukiele restored, held firm to secure the three points.
