J. Cole cancelled a concert in Sacramento, California, on Thursday, August 27, after a member of his touring crew died in a road accident. The show at the Golden 1 Center was called off just hours before doors were set to open.
The victim was identified by the Yolo County Coroner’s Office as 66-year-old Jarlath Parkinson from South Carolina. Local reports indicate that Mr Parkinson was driving a semi-truck carrying equipment from a previous show when it veered off the highway and overturned. Local authorities confirmed he died at the scene.
Sgt. David Barker of the California Highway Patrol stated that the cause of the crash is currently unknown, suggesting it "may have been a distraction or fell asleep."
The J. Cole tour, which celebrates his latest album 'The Fall Off', is scheduled to continue in Oakland over the weekend, August 29 and 30. The tour is also set to visit the UK and Europe in October, including two performances at The O2 in London.
