A jet skier from north London has returned home after completing a solo circumnavigation of mainland Great Britain. Lee Robinson, from Edmonton, arrived at Butler's Wharf, Tower Bridge, on 25 July, concluding a 64-day journey.
Mr Robinson stated that his 10-week odyssey makes him the first person to complete a solo circumnavigation of mainland Great Britain on a stand-up jet ski. He departed from Tower Bridge over two months ago with special permission from the Port of London Authority (PLA).
During the trip, Mr Robinson experienced "everything from highs and massive lows," with daily durations ranging from a couple of hours to 14 hours. He was supported by a land crew, including his wife Alison, son Miles, and family friend Liz, who met him at every stop.
The challenge was inspired by his friend John Duncan, who lives with multiple sclerosis (MS) and originally conceived the idea. The journey also became deeply personal for Mr Robinson following the death of his mother to Alzheimer's in 2024, and his father nine months later. Funds and awareness were raised for both the MS Society and the Alzheimer's Society.
