Jonathan Glazer, a producer on the award-winning documentary NAZA, has stated that Israel’s retaliation against the film’s makers and the military figures interviewed was “much more venal” than he had anticipated. Glazer made these comments at NAZA’s UK premiere in London on Thursday night, where he also told the Guardian’s editor-in-chief, Katharine Viner, that he was “shocked into silence” upon first watching the film.

Since its release, the Israeli government has denounced NAZA and pursued those involved. This includes announcing plans to strip citizenship from individuals who “smear” Israeli soldiers, accusing co-directors Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor of treason, and ordering officials to prosecute soldiers and officers interviewed in the documentary.

NAZA, which is produced by the Guardian, details Israel’s mass killing of civilians in Gaza. The film is currently showing in UK cinemas and is set to be screened in over 50 countries. It will also be available for free on the Guardian’s website starting in late November.

What this means for you: You can watch NAZA in UK cinemas now, and it will be available for free on the Guardian's website from late November.
