Julia Stone, known as one half of the sibling duo Angus & Julia Stone, has offered a glimpse into the music that has resonated with her throughout her life. She cites Midnight Oil's 'Beds Are Burning' as the first song she remembers hearing, a track her parents frequently played when she was young.
Her first album purchase was the soundtrack to 'William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet', bought when she was 12 or 13, likely with money earned from teaching trumpet. The first gig she bought a ticket for was Australian band Jebediah, an under-18 event in a community centre in Western Sydney around 1999 or 2000.
More recently, Post Malone’s ‘I Had Some Help’ (feat. Morgan Wallen) reminds her of home, having listened to Morgan Wallen extensively after her daughter's birth a year ago. Stone also revealed that Bon Iver’s ‘Re: Stacks’ makes her cry and was played during her daughter's birth. She plans for a Bill Frisell, Grégoire Maret and Romain Collin cover of 'Re: Stacks' to be played at her funeral.
The new album from Angus & Julia Stone, titled 'Karaoke Bar', is set to be released on September 4 via Virgin Music.
