Tom Waits has shared the full version of his spoken-word track, 'The Fly'. The track is a sardonic tribute to the life of a housefly.
'The Fly' serves as the B-side to 'Boots On The Ground', Waits' politically charged collaboration with Massive Attack. 'Boots On The Ground' was released online in April, marking Waits' first new original music since his 2011 album 'Bad As Me'.
Waits recites lines such as, "You have no house, well you have mine / You have no real friends, stay away from the wine," and "No one will weep when you die." The track continues his tradition of darkly comic spoken-word pieces.
Both 'Boots On The Ground' and 'The Fly' are scheduled for release together on 12-inch vinyl on September 4. The vinyl will be a 180g 'EcoSonic' pressing, available in red, white, or blue, and manufactured using recycled materials.
