Kalvin Phillips set for fourth Manchester City loan, returning to Sheffield United

England international Kalvin Phillips is reportedly set to rejoin Sheffield United on loan, marking his fourth temporary move away from Manchester City.

  • Kalvin Phillips is reportedly set to return to Sheffield United on loan.
  • This would be Phillips' fourth loan spell from Manchester City, where he has not played in the Premier League since 2023.
  • Phillips made three appearances for Sheffield United last season before a red card and knee injury ended his playing time.

Kalvin Phillips, the England international midfielder, is reportedly set to rejoin Sheffield United on loan. This move would mark his fourth temporary departure from Manchester City, where he still has two years remaining on his contract.

The 30-year-old has not featured for City in the Premier League since 2023. Last season, Phillips spent the second half of the campaign at Sheffield United, making three appearances before a red card in a Steel City derby and a subsequent knee injury ended his involvement.

Despite a change in manager at City, with Enzo Maresca now at the helm, and uncertainty surrounding fellow defensive midfielder Rodri, Phillips has not returned to contention. He has only started six games for Manchester City in all competitions since joining for £42.5m from Leeds in 2022, and has previously had loan spells at West Ham and Ipswich.
