Essex Police have seized a Lamborghini Huracan in Southend under tightened antisocial driving laws. The supercar, which could be worth more than £200,000, was confiscated on Saturday afternoon.
Police received reports of the vehicle being driven dangerously, with speeds suspected to be more than twice the limit. A force spokesperson stated that antisocial driving can endanger others and cause distress to residents, adding that community safety is a priority.
The seizure was made under section 59 of the Police Reform Act, which was strengthened earlier this year. This allows police to immediately confiscate vehicles causing, or likely to cause, alarm, distress or annoyance to the public. Previously, a warning was issued before a vehicle could be seized for a second incident within 12 months.
