Jed York, a co-owner of Leeds United and Rangers, has been jailed in Ohio after being arrested for soliciting prostitution. The 46-year-old, who also owns the San Francisco 49ers, pleaded no contest to two charges and was convicted of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools.
York received a sentence of one day in jail for each offence, to be served concurrently, and was given credit for time already served. He was also fined $150 for disorderly conduct and $1,000 for possessing criminal tools.
Court records indicate the case was brought by the East Palestine Police Department and filed at Columbiana County Municipal Court on Monday. An expungement request to have records sealed or destroyed was filed and denied on the same day.
York became a co-owner of Rangers through 49ers Enterprises, the investment arm linked to the NFL's San Francisco 49ers, where he serves as chief executive and principal owner. Both Rangers and Leeds have stated they will not be commenting on the matter, and the 49ers have also been approached for comment. The NFL has confirmed it is aware of the matter and will review it under its personal conduct policy.
