Nottingham Forest's £45m club-record signing, Liam Delap, has spoken about his competitive drive, stating he plays "at my best when I'm on that edge of being … being horrible." The striker, who could make his full debut against Tottenham on Saturday, reflected on a challenging 16 months.
Delap left Chelsea after one season of a six-year contract, having scored one goal in 28 top-flight appearances. He described his previous loan spells at Stoke and Preston in 2022-23 as not going well, but learned from them before a successful stint at Hull in 2023-24.
Last summer, Delap was reportedly sought after by 18 Premier League clubs. Forest's head coach, Oliver Glasner, who was then at Crystal Palace, also pursued him. Glasner aims for Delap to play to his strengths, focusing on physicality, power, and finishing.
Delap made his Forest debut as a substitute last weekend at Anfield, contributing to a penalty that led to a goal in their 2-2 draw. He has been capped by England at every age group and was part of the Manchester City FA Youth Cup-winning side in 2020.
