Judge William Sullivan has declined a request from Clancy's attorney, Kevin Reddington, to dismiss the juror or to question them again individually. Judge Sullivan stated that the note did not indicate a refusal to follow the law.
Lindsay Clancy, a 36-year-old former nurse, does not deny strangling her three children in 2023 before attempting to take her own life. Her attorney argues that postpartum psychosis led to her actions, while prosecutors contend she knew what she was doing.
The jury has twice informed Judge Sullivan that it was unable to agree on a verdict. If the jury remains unable to agree, the judge could declare a mistrial, which would require prosecutors to decide whether to retry the case, drop charges, or negotiate a plea deal.
